Why Do Novus Ordo-Raised Catholics Migrate to the Traditional Latin Mass?

Why Do Novus Ordo-Raised Catholics Migrate to the Traditional Latin Mass? By  Jeff Dahlberg OnePeterFive Many of those who grew up in the pre-Vatican II era can’t understand why anyone born after, say, 1970 could possibly be attracted to the traditional Latin Mass. After all, they reason, who wants to go back to the days when the priest “turned his back to the people” and “mumbled in a dead language,” when only a “few old women” went up for Communion and most of the congregation “daydreamed” while these same old women said their Rosaries? I can still remember hearing these arguments, when I, as a 16-year-old, went to RCIA classes at St. Albert’s parish in North Tonawanda, N.Y. in the mid-1990s. “Ya like Latin, huh?” said Deacon Brick, my instructor, with an incomprehensive look on his face when I told him I preferred the TLM. Deacon Brick and others of his generation couldn’t fathom how any young Catholic would want to return to a past they thought they had buried for good.

Latin Mass, Latin Exorcism, Latin Sacraments Crush The Devil

Latin Mass, Latin Exorcism, Latin Sacraments Crush The Devil BY  FATHER CAROTA Ancient Catholic Missals show that the Latin Mass Canon has been basically the same ever since Pope Gregory the Great (560-604) . Pope Pius V (1504-1572), only slightly modified this ancient Gregorian Missal, along with some of the rubrics.   He did not modify the Roman Canon itself .  He then promulgated this ancient Roman Latin Mass in all places (except where there was still in use another Rite that was 200 years or older).  This did not include where the Byzantine Rites were being used.  But remember, the vast majority of Catholics are Roman Rite Catholics. Since then, slight changes have been made, like new saints feast days, but the Tridentine Missal, or St. Pius V Missal was in use all over the Roman Rite Church for 400 years. But then, in 1965, this Tridentine Missal was translated into the vernacular (in our case, English) and no longer was obliged to be offered in Latin only.  The Novu

Purgatory on Earth

Purgatory on Earth By  Jay Toups in  Catholic, Charity, Mercy  on November 10, 2018 Guest Post by Supertradmum Years ago, I asked God to give me my purgatory on earth. He has and is. A few years afterwards, one of my newer spiritual directors asked me if I had asked my spiritual director at the time I petitioned God for that grace. I said no, as it was at a time when I was between spiritual directors. This new one said something to the effect that he would have weighed such a request from a directee. However, one can ask to have one’s purgatory on earth. This is not quite the same as going through the purgative stage of holiness. Allowing one’s self to take on pain on earth for the reparation of one’s own sin is not only laudatory, but recommended by some of the saints. The purgative stage happens before one gets to the stage of experiencing suffering for the sake of love. That second description is what one experiences in purgatory. One has seen God in all His B

Virgin Mary appears to Harvard Professor (Jewish Convert to Catholicism)

Image
Virgin Mary appears to Harvard Professor  (Jewish Convert to Catholicism) I have seen videos of people converting to Catholicism, but this is one of the most amazing testimony I have ever watched.  His name is Roy Schoeman. Some of you may have heard of him.  After watching, it made me feel like I have been re-converted to catholicism again. His testimony pointed out how we ( cradle ) catholics have taken it for granted being catholics and forgot our main goal (besides the salvation of our soul). “The danger of being a cradle catholic is not being aware of what you have that no one else has…” -Roy Schoeman His testimony also was so refreshing he shared lots of encounters with the Jesus and the Blessed Mother Mary.. You'll find out what Our lady's favorite prayer to Her would be. (Hint: Miraculous Medal) There are 2 parts of videos - first was his testimony about his conversion and the second video is about the second coming of Christ/End times. PART 1

Is Catholic Clergy Sex Abuse Related to Homosexual Priests?

Is Catholic Clergy Sex Abuse Related to Homosexual Priests? Posted by Matthew E. Bunson on Friday Nov 2, 2018 An interview with sociologist Father Paul Sullins, whose new study documents a strong linkage between the incidence of abuse and homosexuality in the priesthood and in seminaries. On Nov. 2, the Ruth Institute published  a new report  that dares to ask a question many researchers — and Catholics — have been afraid to ask: What has been the role of active homosexuality and homosexual subcultures in the priesthood and in seminaries on the sex-abuse crisis? The report — which indicates a very strong correlation between homosexual priests and homosexual subcultures and the incidence of clergy sexual abuse — is in part a response to the two important studies commissioned by the U.S. Bishops in the face of the sex-abuse crisis that were conducted by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The 2004 study was entitled, “ The Nature and Scope of the Problem of Sexual

Voter’s Guide for Serious Catholics

Voter’s Guide for Serious Catholics An ELECTION PRAYER to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Let's pray! HOW THIS VOTER’S GUIDE HELPS YOU Source:  Catholic Answers Action This voter’s guide helps you cast your vote in an informed manner consistent with Catholic moral teaching. It helps you avoid choosing candidates who endorse policies that cannot be reconciled with moral norms that used to be held by all Christians. On most issues that come before voters or legislators, the task is selecting the most effective strategy among several morally good options. A Catholic can take one side or the other and not act contrary to the faith. Most matters do not have a  "Catholic position." But some issues concern "non-negotiable" moral principles that do not admit of exception or compromise. One’s position either accords with those principles or does not. No one endorsing the wrong side of these issues can be said to act in accord with the Church’s mor
