Tomorrow (Good Friday) Starts the 9 Day Divine Mercy Novena

Tomorrow (Good Friday) Starts the 9 Day Divine Mercy Novena Tomorrow is  Good Friday,  and it is also the first day of the (9 day) Divine Mercy Novena. The Lord promised St. Faustina:   “By this novena, I will grant every possible grace to souls.” (Diary of St. Faustina 796) I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fountain of My mercy, that they may draw therefrom strength and refreshment and whatever grace they have need of in the hardships of life, and especially at the hour of death” (Diary, 1209) Each day of the novena, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed;  if possible, at 3:00 pm , the Hour of Divine Mercy because it is the hour that Jesus died on the cross. It really is providential that we begin this novena, begging God for His mercy for the sake of his suffering and death, on Good Friday. First Day Today bring to Me ALL MANKIND, ESPECIALLY ALL SINNERS, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bit

Stressed out over confession? Maybe you’re over complicating it © Antoine Mekary | ALETEIA Philip Kosloski and Patty Knap | April 16, 2019 |  ALETEIA Don't make the sacrament of confession more difficult than it has to be. Confessing sins to a priest can sometimes feel overwhelming. Especially if you haven’t been to confession for many years, it might seem daunting to list your sins to a priest. However, one of the issues that might make confession seem daunting is actually a misconception: You are not required to give the priest every embarrassing detail about your sins. In fact, it’s better not to. In most cases, you don’t have to give lengthy explanations. One priest suggests that you keep it as simple as possible. He said that some people feel they have to go into all sorts of details about their particular sins. There’s nothing wrong with that, he said, but it’s not essential. One can merely mention the category of sin, and be completely absolved of all ven

The Prophetic Saint Who Foretold What the End of the World Will Be Like Alonso Cano, “St. Vincent Ferrer Preaching,” c. 1645 When the pope used the term “Angel of the Apocalypse” in the Middle Ages, people knew he was talking about St. Vincent Ferrer By  Joseph Pronechen St. Vincent Ferrer earned the title preaching the Gospel powerfully and persuasively, often on the Final Judgment and the coming of the Antichrist. Even Pius II’s Bull of Canonization called St. Vincent Ferrer “the Angel of the Apocalypse, flying through the heavens to announce the day of the Last Judgment, to evangelize the inhabitants of the earth.” This year marks the 600th anniversary of St. Vincent Ferrer’s death on April 5, 1419, yet his words remain as powerful and necessary as ever. Before looking at his preaching on the Last Judgment, the Antichrist and the End of the World, let’s understand how powerful a preacher he was all over Europe, beginning in his native Spain, by looking at a me

Cdl. Sarah says defending migrants is a ‘false exegesis’ of the Gospels

Cdl. Sarah says defending migrants is a ‘false exegesis’ of the Gospels It is a false exegesis to use the word of God to promote migration. God never wanted these heartbreaks by Tom Heneghan The Tablet Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, has said that defending migration was a misinterpretation of Gospels by priests and bishops “bewitched” by political and social issues. His interview with the French magazine 'Valeurs Actuelles' appeared last weekend, around the same time as Pope Francis spoke up for migrants during his visit to Morocco and said politicians who build walls to keep them out would become prisoners of those barriers. “It is better to help people flourish in their culture than to encourage them to come to a Europe in full decadence,” he said. “It is a false exegesis to use the word of God to promote migration. God never wanted these heartbreaks.” The Guinean cardinal, one of the most
